Teen Mom Kailyn Lowry reveals she's publishing a book about 'Stockholm Syndrome' & 'trauma bonding' with past 'abusers'
TEEN Mom Kailyn Lowry has revealed she's publishing a novel about 'Stockholm Syndrome.'
The mom-of-four's statement came as she spoke about her own personal experiences of 'trauma bonding' with past 'abusers.'
It came as Kailyn, 29, spoke alongside Lindsie Chrisley on their latest Coffee Convos podcast.
The reality star explained to listeners: "In medicalnewstoday.com it says 'trauma bonding is a psychological response to abuse. It occurs when the abused person forms an unhealthy bond with the person who abuses them' and an example of this is Stockholm Syndrome.
"And I actually have a novel written about Stockholm Syndrome and it will be coming out next year."
She added: "Because I feel that I have gone through this and I feel that my relationship with my mom is very similar to or is trauma bonding and some of my romantic relationships have been trauma bonds."
AN UNHEALTHY BOND
Fans of Teen Mom will have seen glimpses into Kailyn's relationship with her estranged family, including her mom Suzi Irwin, father Raymond and half-sister Mikaila.
Kailyn previously alleged that Suzi has an alcohol addiction and how in the past she would blame herself for her mother's actions.
She went on: "I think a lot of people don't understand my relationships and one in particular, that I'm not going to specify, but people who have followed my story will get an idea of who it is."
While emphasizing that "not everyone who experiences abuse develops a trauma bond," she exclaimed fiercely: "I personally developed a trauma bond to my abuser – I know that for a fact."
Speaking of her own experience, Lindsie commented: "You continue to feel bad for the person doing these things to you, so then you just go back to it."
"Yep," Kailyn responded.
'ABUSE IS ASSOCIATED WITH LOVE'
"That's how it was with my mom for a long time- as a child we don't expect that our caregivers are bad right? You just think that is just the way it is."
And reflecting on how "abuse is associated with love," she concluded: "I have gone through this with caregivers and with romantic partners."
Kailyn hasn't seen her mom since her son Lincoln, now seven, was a baby.
Kailyn last saw her father in 2009, when she visited him in Texas while she was pregnant with her son Isaac.
Kailyn is a mom to Isaac, 11, with ex Jo Rivera, and Lincoln, seven, with ex-husband Javi Marroquin.
She shares Lux, three, and Creed, eleven months, with her third baby daddy, Chris Lopez.
The exes have had an up-and-down relationship – the two were involved in a shouting match recently, which led Kailyn to yell at Chris, "get the f**k out of my car!"
The former couple has had their fights in the past, one which led to Kailyn being arrested after "punching Chris several times with a closed fist" over their eldest child's haircut.
In February, The Sun exclusively revealed that the charges against Kailyn were dropped.
While the fight that led to the mother of four in handcuffs will not be shown on Teen Mom 2, that has not stopped her co-star Briana DeJesus from discussing it.
Recently, Kailyn filed a lawsuit against Briana claiming that the mother of two "asserted that Lowry physically beat Christopher Lopez, the father of two of Lowry's sons, and broke into and entered the home of Mr. Lopez's mother."
