The Chase viewers were left distracted as eagle-eyed fans spotted the names of the contestants resembled the actors who played in the American sitcom Friends.

During Monday’s instalment of the popular ITV game show, Bradley Walsh introduced the latest line up of budding contestants ready to take on the Chaser in an effort to go home with a bucket load of cash.

Although this was a repeat episode, fans celebrated with the same enthusiasm as they did when it first aired as Matt, Jennifer, Courtney and David took on Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis.

And it’s fair to say fans were left in hysterics during the iconic afternoon special but many noticed that Lisa Kudrow was missing from the comedy group.

But they weren’t the only ones who noticed the strange coincidence as the Irish egghead spotted the strange line up when he was revealed as The Chaser for this episode.

As he sat down at his table on the TV show, he told Bradley: “It looks like the cast of Friends have joined us” as the Coronation Street star turned around blissfully unaware of the famous link.

“Ah! So we are …You know, I never notice these things,” he confessed as he pressed on with the programme.

Shortly after the line-up aired, viewers swarmed to Twitter to share their thoughts the hilarious coincidence online.

One user penned: "Can’t believe the friends cast are on the chase” with a cry laughing emoji.

Another agreed: “Matt, Courtney, Jennifer and David, glad to see the Friends Reunited special on #TheChase.”

A third chimed in with: “The chase tonight has contestants David, Courtney, Jennifer and Matt. Ironically, they don’t seem to be friends lol.”

It comes after Bradley Walsh was replaced as the host of the ITV game show The Chase during Sunday’s episode.

Filling in for the usual spot was comedian Joe Pasquale – who couldn’t resist a cheeky dig at the presenter’s question-reading skills in a tense opening segment.

Joe kicked off the special episode of the programme by announcing: “Hello, and welcome to The Chase. I’m Bradley Walsh, TV’s luckiest man. And once again, I’ll be asking questions I can barely read – let alone understand.”

Bradley could then be clearly head yelling “Cut!” as he urged security to enter the studio as he reclaimed his rightful place.
