The End of the F***ing World boss confirms season 2 will be show’s last in apology to fans – The Sun

CULT comedy drama The End of The F***ing World will end with this current second series.

The fan favourite only returned to screens this week, but the writer has revealed there will not be a third run.

Charlie Clovell revealed at a screening: "I don’t think you’re going to get another series. I think sometimes it’s good to just stop things and I hope when you see the end you’ll agree.

She added: "I think you can push things but this feels like an actual end. Sorry."

The news will devastate viewers, who have followed the misadventures of misfits Alyssa (Jessica Barden) and James (Alex Lawther), who ran away together in series one.

Series two debuted on Monday with a new character, Bonnie (Naomi Ackie) who is on a mission to kill Alyssa.

She sent her a bullet with her name on it, which could well spell a grisly end for our heroine.

The second series is set two years after the events of the first and will delve more deeply into Alyssa's past.

Jessica Barden recently revealed the new run will explore her character's painful backstory, including the fact that she was on the run from a sexual predator.

Writer Charlie has also spoken about how the show was changed substantially from the graphic novel on which it is based.

She explained that "we cut out quite a bit" in the edit of the first series in order to bring Alyssa and James together more quickly on screen.
