The Masked Singer UK series three returned for its third episode on Saturday night, as nine celebrities remain in the competition. While judges Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Mo Gilligan and Davina McCall are firmly back in detective mode, ITV viewers believe they have guessed the identity of Traffic Cone based on key clues which have been missed.

With an impressive start to the show, Traffic Cone performed Rick Astley’s 80s hit Never Gonna Give You Up.

The stage, which featured a selection of road signs, saw the hidden celebrity surrounded by construction men, while they strutted their dance moves.

Although it is early days in the competition, fans suspected the hidden celebrity was none other than Sir Tom Jones.

After spotting the hidden clues, fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on why they believed the legendary singer was hidden underneath the garishly orange costume.

@acantwellhyde pointed out: “TRAFFIC CONE is definitely Tom Jones. I remember him saying on the Voice he worked in Constriction before he made it big! #MaskedSingerUK.”

While another fan, @Em22C  said: “@MaskedSingerUK traffic cone sounds exactly like Tom Jones! Shape of a cone could be the shape of a mountain in wales?”

@amy2002XO claimed: “#MaskedSinger traffic cone sounds like Tom Jones, even the tache looks like his.” (sic)

Some viewers simply thought Traffic Cone sounded like the 81-year-old performer while he sang.

A confident @Joey_fortune21, said: “Traffic cone is 100% tom jones #MaskedSingerUK soon as traffic come started singing i knew it was him.”

@MeghanB_xx said: “Traffic cone is Tom Jones he sounds Welsh and the name nearly rhymes #TheMaskedSinger #TheMaskedSingerUK.” (sic)

On the other hand, some ITV viewers had weren’t convinced by the idea and took to social media.

@vananna36 said: “Traffic Cone sounds like Tom Jones but it’s definitely not Tom Jones #TheMaskedSingerUK.”

One fan guessed Traffic Cone was hiding an Olympic swimmer, @ChriscoliScott said: “Traffic cone is Tom Daley #maskedsinger.”

Whereas @mikebirty said: “Traffic Cone is definitely John Major, someone call the cones hot line #MaskedSingerUK #MaskedSinger.”

Unfortunately for eager audiences, viewers don’t find out who each celebrity is until they’re eliminated.

After spotting several sports-related clues, the judges were convinced it could be Chris Kamara or Alistair Brownlee after Mo picked up on a hidden Olympic gold triathlon champion reference.

The latest celebrity to be uncovered was former Pop Idol winner Will Young, who was dressed as Lionfish.

Moments before, host Jonathan guessed correctly before the singer performed for the final time as a hidden celebrity.

Young battled it out against Fireworks in the sing-off on Saturday with his rendition of Stop This Flame.

The star was the latest evictee behind M People vocalist Heather Small, dressed as Chandelier, and Loose Women host Gloria Hunniford’s starring as Snow Leopard.

The Masked Singer airs Saturday on ITV at 7pm
