There's a New Dating Show Called 'Dated and Related,' and You Should Hear the Rules Immediately
Netflix’s newest love show Dated and Related feels like a social experiment in the best way. Think psych analysis, but instead it’s making out with a stranger in front of your sibling then ending the night in a shared bed with said sibling–because of course they share beds. It’s twisted and uncomfortable and highly, highly addicting.
The show begins with six pairs of siblings entering a villa in the South of France searching for love (and $100,000 in prize money). The show takes most of its cues from the ever-popular Love Island, including the fact this cast is constantly rotating, with sibling pairs being voted out and replaced by new pairs every few days. Also borrowed from Love Island? The slang. The show’s siblings are from all over the globe, but it seems they’ve all seen Love Island U.K.—which is made clear by mentions of “early days,” “good chat,” “mugged off,” and “head is turned.”
The host of Dated and Related is Melinda Barry, who also hosted season 2 of Netflix’s Too Hot to Handle. You’ll know she’s the host because every time she’s on screen, it’s in a slow motion strut and all the siblings promptly melt down.
Over Dated and Related‘s 10 episodes, the sibling pairs mingle, swap, and settle down with their housemates in search of a love match. Will any of these couples make it work? Only time will tell. But hey, at least they’ve met the family already.

How Does Dated and Related Even Work?
The competing pairs enter the villa with their sibling (or cousin, in one case). Their goal is not only to make connections and find love, but also to be the ultimate wingman or wingwoman for their family member. The latter task is what ultimately determines a pair’s success in the house. At each unofficial voting ceremony, the pairs are asked to vote for the siblings who were the best wing-people to each other, and to vote out another sibling pair. In the end, it’s not just about finding love, it’s about making sure your brother/sister/cousin also finds love.
When one pair is voted out, another pair is promptly ushered in and granted a first date of their choosing. Did we forget to mention? The dates aren’t solo. That’s right, the siblings go on dates together as well. Overall, the show is the television version of playing spin the bottle with your sibling in the circle–treacherous…and again, highly addicting.
Towards the end of the competition, the sibling pairs finally split and begin competing (and sleeping) as romantic couples with non-family partners, with the winning couple also being chosen via vote based on who everyone thinks is most likely to “make it” romantically in the real world.
As with every good reality dating show, Dated and Related requires some suspension of disbelief–meaning yes, you are meant to root for a couple that is split between London and Canada. They’ll make it work, right?
Who Are the Siblings?
In case you’d prefer to skip the 10 hours of sibling-adjacent dating and go straight to the source, you can find the competing family lines on Instagram.
