Tony Blackburn reveals major health update as I'm A Celeb star misses Radio 2 show again | The Sun

TONY Blackburn has again been replaced on his BBC Radio 2 Sounds of The 60s programme.

Last month, the much-loved DJ, 80, was forced to pull out of the show on doctors' orders yet concern was first sparked among listeners in March when he was absent from his popular throwback programme.

At the time, former I'm A Celeb winner Tony explained that he was adhering to medical advice to rest after picking up a chest infection.

Now, following his discharge from hospital, he has revealed his BBC co-star Jonnie Walker, 78, will again be in the broadcasting hot-seat during his time off.

Tony today took to his Twitter page to reveal: "Good morning on this Coronation day.

"I’ve just had a look outside here in Hertfordshire and the weather doesn’t look that good. Let’s hope it gets better as the day goes on.

He then reassured one fan as he wrote: "Thanks Sheila, all being well I will be back very soon. Getting better every day."

The broadcasting veteran added: "I’m going in soon to have my daily injection then home and watch the Coronation.

"I hope the weather improves as it’s rather overcast at the moment. As long as it doesn’t rain."

Previously, Tony revealed he will need more outpatient care to treat the aftermath of his illness.

And he has warned "it might be a few weeks" before he is back on the airwaves.

Giving a health update, Tony told MirrorOnline: "I hope to be back on the radio as soon as possible but it might be a few weeks before I am able to get back in the studio.

“As you know, I am passionate about my radio shows and I will be back as quickly as I safely can.

"I want to thank all of the listeners who have sent their well-wishes and messages of support. I do read them all and it really means a lot.”

Fans have rushed to send well wishes, with one writing: "Doing too much Tony! Take care and get well soon."

Tony's show airs between 6am and 8am on Saturdays and has hosted the programme since March 2017.

He previously hit out at TV stars being given radio shows off the back of their fame.

He said: “Very few people are good on television and radio, I always preferred radio.

"Noel Edmonds was good on both but he preferred television because he realised there was more money.
