Dutton Ranch is under constant threat from violent competitors, none perhaps as intimidating as the notorious Beck Brothers. Jason star David Cleveland Brown recently touched on his brief time on Yellowstone which led to his untimely murder in the Paramount series’ second season.
Actor David Cleveland Brown may have just had a minor role on Taylor Sheridan’s Western hit Yellowstone, but his character Jason certainly made an impact.
Known as the assistant to ruthless banker Beth Dutton (played by Kelly Reilly), Jason had to endure constant belittling and high tempers from his no-nonsense employer.
The series is set to head into unchartered territory for its upcoming fourth season, currently filming in Montana.
Fearless Beth Dutton may have finally angered the wrong people, as an explosive delivery to her office left her life hanging in the balance.
Meanwhile, her father John (Kevin Costner) and brother Kayce (Luke Grimes) were also targeted, leaving the whole family decimated and out for vengeance.
While it’s not confirmed who will live or die heading into the next instalment, most fans seem to agree the Duttons won’t be killed this time round.
Nevertheless, Yellowstone has seen plenty of violence throughout its three seasons so far, as Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) and the loyal bunkhouse hands continue to tally up an impressive death toll.
Moreover, the show’s second season saw the ranch take on formidable business rivals Malcolm (Neal McDonough) and Teal Beck (Terry Serpico).
Although John finally took them down after they kidnapped Kayce’s son Tate (Brecken Merrill), the brothers didn’t go down without a fight.
During a recent Q&A post on Reddit, David Cleveland Brown opened up about the devastating moment in which his character Jason was killed off.
He revealed: “Such a high and low for an actor. To get through auditions and get cast is amazing.
“To be on the show and film your stuff is incredible. Then to get killed is heart wrenching.”

Despite only appearing six episodes overall, the actor still recalled his time on the show as a highlight of his career.
Plus, even though Jason was subjected to one of the show’s horrific deaths, with Beth forced to watch, Brown still had tremendous fun filming the grisly sequence.
He continued: “It’s so much fun to film a death scene, if only it didn’t end my run on the show…”
However, the star still hasn’t ruled out his character making an unexpected return to the series somewhere down the line.
Brown suggested: “I joked with one of the producers they should have me back in a Christmas episode as a ghost like Jacob Marley does to Scrooge.”
As Yellowstone traditionally airs over the summer, David Cleveland Brown might have to get the producers on the phone and convince them to switch to a winter schedule to bring back Jason.
The series’ was met with some complications amid the coronavirus pandemic, but it should still be on track for a mid-2021 release for its highly anticipated premiere.
Yellowstone will return with season 4 in 2021 on Paramount and Peacock.
