{"id":67602,"date":"2023-09-16T19:19:11","date_gmt":"2023-09-16T19:19:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celeband.com\/?p=67602"},"modified":"2023-09-16T19:19:11","modified_gmt":"2023-09-16T19:19:11","slug":"amy-dowden-throws-support-behind-strictly-family-as-they-honour-her","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celeband.com\/entertainment\/amy-dowden-throws-support-behind-strictly-family-as-they-honour-her\/","title":{"rendered":"Amy Dowden throws support behind Strictly family as they honour her"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/SEC_171939229-d307.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has thrown her support behind her showbiz family, as the new series kicked off in her honour.<\/p>\n<p>The pro dancer, 33, will not be paired up with a celebrity on the 2023 show, after it was revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with stage 3\u00a0breast cancer.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019s since undergone a single mastectomy and is now having chemotherapy after\u00a0doctors sadly found more tumours,\u00a0which has also forced her out of Strictly 2023.<\/p>\n<p>However, she\u2019s previously teased an upcoming appearance while fans have been showering her in support.<\/p>\n<p>And they\u2019re not the only ones, as the new series kicked off with a dance in honour of the Strictly family\u2019s \u2018Welsh dragon\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Host Tess Daly said: \u2018We are of course missing one of our professional dancers, our gorgeous Amy Dowden is unwell and she can\u2019t be with us for the start of the series.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She\u2019s our Welsh dragon and we know she\u2019ll be back soon.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Strictly Judges and Pros wow the audience with an incredible performance \u2728 BBC Strictly 2023\" width=\"860\" height=\"484\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/0oWStFnIUhc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>While Claudia Winkleman said: \u2018Amy, from your entire Strictly family we are sending all our love and we can\u2019t wait to have you back on the dancefloor.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The group number saw judges Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke perform along with the professionals to a medley of songs including Afraid To Feel from LF System, Kylie\u2019s Padam Padam and Higher from Michael Buble.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Amy posted a message in support on her own socials.<\/p>\n<p>She wrote: \u2018My smile the other week after being with the Strictly family, the entire team.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018So grateful and lucky to have you all. Tune in tonight.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Can\u2019t wait to support all my friends and their fabulous journeys this year and I\u2019ll be there when I can.\u2019<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>This comes after Amy reunited with her Strictly family, and was given a standing ovation by fans.<\/p>\n<p>Radio Times,\u00a0who organised the photo shoot, said: \u2018It was an emotional moment \u2013 tears were shed \u2013 and when she finally stepped back onto the floor, the watching audience of die-hard Strictly fans treated her to a spontaneous standing ovation\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Amy credits the BBC series for being a \u2018tonic\u2019 during her ongoing cancer treatment.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t think, actually, I could get through the next few months without Strictly,\u2019 she stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019ll be part of the show in different areas. It\u2019s the tonic that I need at the moment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/wp-content\/themes\/metro-parent\/img\/fallback.png\"><\/p>\n<p>\u2018There are so many ways to be involved, and they\u2019re going to be guided by me.
