A Place in the Sun presenter told trees could be a deal-breaker<\/h3>\n

A Place In The Sun presenter Sara Damergi was stunned after buyers told her of a “poisonous hazard” on one of the properties she had shown them.<\/p>\n

In what was a first for the Channel 4 presenter, a couple who were looking to purchase a home with a large stretch of land, pointed out that the property could endanger an exotic animal.<\/p>\n

“Some of these trees may be poisonous to the alpacas,” said the male buyer as the camera panned around the vast grounds.<\/p>\n

“We have to be more careful especially when we get to the pines, that sort of thing. We have to be so careful. So we’d have to check that. That would be a deal breaker potentially.”<\/p>\n

“Crikey, I hadn’t factored in poisonous trees for alpacas,” replied a visibly stunned Sara. <\/span><\/p>\n

“You don’t come across that everyday,” replied the man, as his wife chuckled.<\/p>\n

According to Alpaca Care and Husbandry, as a rule of thumb, “most shrubs\/trees with glossy leaves are poisonous. In particular Rhododendron, Laurel and Yew are highly toxic so need to be well fenced off or removed”.<\/p>\n

There are said to be around 25,000 alpacas, which are a species of South American mammal, often confused with the Llama, in the UK.<\/p>\n

In the UK, alpacas have become popular as pets due to their gentle nature and intelligence.<\/p>\n

Sara, who is a fan favourite, had been absent from hosting the series for a lengthy stretch of time.<\/p>\n
