Joanna Lumley reflects on her role in Coronation Street<\/h3>\n

Coronation Street’s Bernie Winter (played by Jane Hazlegrove) is set for a Christmas away from her family as she is given a custodial sentence.<\/p>\n

In recent scenes, Bernie was arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods after she was caught being handed money by Big Garth (Victor McGuire).<\/p>\n

After trying to fight the charges, Bernie was later called back into the police station to be told they had enough evidence and she would need to go to court.<\/p>\n

In upcoming scenes, Bernie breaks the news to Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) and Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell) that she\u2019s up in court for handling stolen goods.<\/p>\n

On Joel Deering\u2019s (Callul Lill) advice, Bernie pleads guilty and stands emotional in the courtroom.<\/p>\n

Paul, Gemma and Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) reel in shock as the Judge states that given her record, they have no other option but to impose a custodial sentence.<\/p>\n

Paul\u2019s devastated and begs the judge to reconsider, telling her about his MND and how he needs his Mum.<\/p>\n

Will Bernie be in prison for Paul’s last Christmas? Is there any way for the family to get her out of the trouble?<\/p>\n

Will Dev Alahan (Jimmi Harkishin) stick by Bernie if she is sent to prison or is this the end of the road for their relationship?<\/p>\n

Coronation Street boss Iain MacLeod recently discussed what is to come for the Winter\/Brown family and admitted Bernie will cause a lot of upset.<\/p>\n
