The Chase’s Shaun Wallace took to Twitter this morning to share an unearthed photo of himself perched at a marina beside a string of yachts. The quiz show favourite, also known as the Dark Destroyer, looked virtually unrecognisable in the snap, which was taken in his younger years.

The star, who is a lecturer and barrister when not making appearances on TV, is now 63. However, the nostalgic snap could easily have been taken decades earlier, and it instantly prompted intrigued reactions from fans.

Sean teased his 91,300 followers on the app by quizzing: “Throwback Thursday time! Any idea of where I am for this photo?” He then invited them to guess what the “white plastic things hanging off the side of the boat” were called.

“Fenders are the white things but I have no clue where you are,” @claudia1frog wrote in reply. @salsmith1978 echoed: “The white plastic things are fenders, they should protect side of boat when mooring or coming alongside.”

Fans seemed more undecided about where exactly he was located, with fans suggesting Portugal, Greece, Spain, Italy and the South of France to name just a few. Shaun has so far not revealed the secret location, so his guessing game continues.

One eagle-eyed fan, @derek_tash, pointed out: “You’re wearing an Italia 90 shirt, so is it Portovenere?”

The pretty Italian fishing village has been described by Forbes as the Cinque Terre region’s “sixth town”, and in the past, it’s been visited by everyone from Steven Spielberg to Andrea Bocelli, so it’s popular with celebrities.

However, some followers had other matters on their mind – the handsome looks Sean sported in his youth.

@LindaMax1979 exclaimed: “You look so bonny in this picture Shaun. Never mind the scenery I’m concentrating on you!! xxxxxxxx.”
