Kerry Katona’s festive regrets over ex Brian McFadden: We can’t be in the same room – Kerry Katona

As Christmas Day draws closer, Kerry Katona has revealed why times like these make her wish that she could've stayed more 'civil' with ex Brian McFadden for the sake of their children.

The former Atomic Kitten star, 43, has also said in this week's column that not being able to co-parent together during the holidays is one of her 'biggest regrets' from their split, following the news that James Haskell and Chloe Madeley are set to spend Christmas together, despite their recent break-up.

She also exclusively shares her plans for Christmas day, while looking back at the busy year 2023 was.

Dinner with the fab five

Christmas this year is a little bit different because Molly and Lilly won’t be with me for dinner. When we’re not all together, it does get me down a little bit, but I am still looking forward to it.

Ryan and I have got DJ, Max and Heidi with us so it’ll be fun just the five of us. I want everyone to get dressed up. Lilly is waking up with us in the morning and then going to her dad’s for dinner, before coming back to me for the evening. Her boyfriend is going to come too. Christmas Day is all about the kids and seeing their faces when they open their presents. Normally, the older girls help me with the cooking, but DJ can peel the potatoes and Max is a good help too.

Goodbye 2023

Looking back over 2023, one of my favourite moments was going away on our family summer holiday. Doing things with my family are always my favourite times of the year. I had the release of my book too, which was good but emotional.

There’s nothing else out there now – I’ve got no secrets, I’m on a good path and I’m doing well. I’m going into 2024 feeling a hell of a lot lighter and that’s not just because I’ve lost three and a half stone! Life’s really good and it’s only going to get better.

Respect the ex

Chloe Madeley revealed she and James Haskell are spending Christmas together for their daughter Bodhi, despite splitting up. That’s amazing if you can do it and such a good thing for kids. My biggest regret about Brian is I wish we could have been friendly enough to even be in the same room. There’s no animosity from my end, but we just never did that. If you can, remain friends for your children’s sake. It’s such admirable and responsible behaviour from Chloe and James.

Making time for friends

I’m not working this New Year’s Eve, as we only have a performance of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs in the afternoon, so I’m looking forward to spending it with friends. Ryan and I will have some people round to our house with the kids and ring in the bells.

I’ve been working most of this month so haven’t had much time to catch up with friends – but I did bump into Helen Flanagan. She is looking amazing and is so lovely. We always get on really well.

A wicked panto!

Panto is going really well – we’ve been performing throughout December and there’s been an amazing atmosphere.

Lilly, who has blown me out of the water, is playing Snow White and DJ is one of the dancers too. I get nervous at the beginning – if you don’t get nervous you don’t care – but after a few performances I was fine. I missed the first rehearsals so had to catch up at the start but I got back on track quickly.
