Pamela Anderson on not wearing makeup: I just dont want to play the game
When Pamela Anderson went makeup-free at Paris Fashion Week, it was a big story. Not only did it go against the grain of how most celebrity women present themselves, it was also a departure from Pam’s iconic, super glammed up look. But it’s also a reflection of how much her life has changed since she was at the height of her fame in the nineties. She’s now moved back to her hometown on Vancouver Island and gardens and grows her own food. She seems really happy. Pamela has season two of her home renovation show coming out on Hulu called Pamela’s Garden of Eden. It follows her as she renovates the property where her grandparents lived, as well as her sons’ renovations on their house in LA. She spoke to People about her makeup free look, and said she wouldn’t rule out wearing it again. And she also said that she doesn’t feel the pressure to be “cool” anymore.
After Pamela Anderson showed up to Paris Fashion Week makeup free, the internet went wild for her pared-down look. But the actress, 56, who’s currently starring in season two of her home renovation show Pamela’s Garden of Eden (now streaming Hulu), says she never meant for the moment to go viral.
She didn’t think anyone would notice her makeup free look at PFW: “I’m makeup free at home, so why not for Paris Fashion Week?” she tells PEOPLE. “I really didn’t know anyone would notice it, but I’m glad it became a positive message.”
How she feels about aging: “I call if Life-ing, not aging,” she says. “Chasing youth is futile. All we can do is embrace who we are at the moment we are in, and be okay with where our feet stand right now.”
She’s comfortable in her own skin: She says her days are spent gardening, meditating, growing her own food and just being surrounded by nature and animals. She’s also working on more upcoming shows about sustainable living. “I don’t have to be cool anymore,” she says about what she loves about this stage of life. “I can just be me. It’s very freeing to be comfortable in your own skin.”

She seems like she’s at a peaceful place in her life and I’m happy for her. She’s a Cancer sun and this stage of her life is in alignment with that–Cancer is very much about the home and creating a cozy refuge from the world. I don’t entirely believe her when she says that she thought no one would notice her makeup-free look at Paris Fashion Week. It’s such a dramatic departure from her established image, she had to have known she would get attention. But it shouldn’t be a big deal for women to forego makeup in the first place. This home renovation is a passion project for her–she bought her grandparents’ old property decades ago and has planned to rebuild it for her parents to live in. But I would actually love to see her do a cooking show. I think she did one a while back but I can’t find it anywhere. She’s been vegan for several years, and I’m always looking for more plant-based recipes.
