Robyn Lynch Paints the Town Green In Inaugural NOW Gallery Exhibition
Irish designer Robyn Lynch is expanding her horizons by debuting her inaugural UK exhibition at London’s NOW Gallery. While participating in Hypebeast Flea earlier this year, Lynch crafts technical menswear with an eye for British subcultures, painting the town green with Greeting From Ireland in Southeast London.
Lynch is part of NOW Gallery’s 2023 Fashion Commission, following in the footsteps of Matty Bovan, Nicholas Daley, and Mowalola. Greeting From Ireland brings a playful approach to traditional art exhibitions, taking inspiration from her Irish upbringing while reflecting on the detailed process experienced in her studio.
The engaging display is young, wild, and free, educating viewers through immersive, digital-first activations. She opens her menswear universe through inflated castles painted with grinning cartoons by Rory Mullen. Neon curtains divide the structure with handmade garments and photographs of previous brand events, documenting her journey through video fittings that repurpose physical designs into digital clothing.
“Being awarded the NOW Gallery 2023 Fashion Commission has been a monumental moment for my brand. I have been an admirer of the NOW Gallery fashion commission since it was established in 2015, when I got the opportunity to assist on Phoebe English’s commission whilst interning at the brand. From assisting another designer as an intern, to now having the opportunity to showcase the development of my brand from inception to date in the same space is a full 360 moment for me. I am extremely honored to be given the opportunity to celebrate Irish creatives and culture within the gallery walls,” says Lynch.
