Little-known McDonalds Monopoly rule leaves parents totally fuming
Lots of fast food fans like to play McDonald's Monopoly. The competition sees people bag lots of great prizes – from food to holidays to cars.
People have been keen to take part since it returned earlier this month, as they're eager to bag the goodies. But even those who've been playing for years may be unaware of a little known rule.
It turns out kids can't claim any prizes. Even if they've won a sweet little McFlurry, they'll be unable to get their hands on it due to the rules of the game.

You may think this seems cruel on first glance, but it's just because you have to be 18 or over to take part. It clearly states this within the consumer rules of the game.
The rules on the McDonald's website reads: "Each entrant must be aged 18 or over and a UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands’ resident to participate in the MONOPOLY DOUBLE PEEL at McDonald’s 2023 UK Promotion ('Promotion'). The following are not eligible to participate: (a) Employees and immediate family members of employees of any of McDonald’s Restaurants Limited (“referred to in these Rules as 'the Promoter' or 'McDonald’s'), any company responsible for redemption of prizes/vouchers or for supplying prizes for the Promotion and their respective franchisees, subsidiaries, agents and advisors, (b) other persons assisting with this Promotion, (c) any person not being an individual person, (d) any syndicate or collection of persons acting in concert, (e) any person entering via an agent or using the services of or which is an entity carrying on the business of entering (or advising on entering) prize promotions and (f) any person using any application or process to submit an entry on that person’s behalf automatically or by proxy."
The rule applies to anyone who takes part. In previous years anyone 16 or over was allowed to play McDonald's Monopoly.
It comes as a blow to young customers who like to peel off the McDonald's Monopoly stickers in a bid to "win" a free McFlurry. This year’s prizes also include 21 MINI Electric Cars, 80 TUI holidays and five prizes of 100K cash – so teens who have previously taken part may be left a little disheartened.
The competition will run up until October 18, and there are over 6.5million Big Mac or Big Flavour Wraps up for grabs. Food fans also have a chance to win up to 9.8million 6 Chicken McNuggets or Double Cheeseburgers, and 1.1million free McFlurrys.
McDonald's Monopoly has taken place annually for over 15 years, aside from in 2020 due to the pandemic. This year is thought to be the first time under-18s haven't been able to take part.
