Corrie cast beam in train snap on way to NTAs to take on EastEnders and Emmerdale
Coronation Street's finest Andy Whyment, Claire Sweeney, Peter Ash, Daniel Brocklebank, Sally Carman and Joe Duttine boarded a train from Manchester down to London together this morning, in anticipation of the glitzy NTA's.
Shorts and T-shirts were the order of the day in the smiling group shot uploaded to Kirk Sutherland star Andy's Instagram account, with several of his pals resharing the same image on their respective Stories.
"Go on gang [clapping emoji]," commented Colson Smith, who plays policeman Craig Tinker in the soap, while Beth Tinker actress Lisa George also responded: "Great photo!!!"
Catherine Tyldesley added to the mix: "Awwww good luck loves!"
They'll be hoping Corrie can conquer rivals Emmerdale, EastEnders and Hollyoaks in the Serial Drama category.
Elsewhere on ITV is further unrest in the This Morning staff, as it's been reported that only a select few of the bigger names have been handed invitations to the NTA's.
A source told The Sun: "People are upset at the slimming down as the show is such a group effort, and the awards are usually a big night out for the whole team", before suggesting that much of the chagrin revolves around the fact This Morning is happy to "splash" its cash on other things after citing the cost-of-living crisis as an excuse.
"It doesn’t help to shut down rumours of a toxic atmosphere. Some people suspect that bosses know it isn’t going to be a stellar year for This Morning after all the scandal."
OK! has contacted the broadcaster for comment on these claims.
Holly Willoughby, who lost her longtime co-presenter Phillip Schofield earlier in the summer over an affair scandal, has called on her fanbase to vote for colleague Alison Hammond at the NTA's as she goes up against Bradley Walsh, Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, Claudia Winkleman, and Martin Lewis for the Presenter award.
In a newsletter sent to subscribers of her lifestyle website Wylde Moon, the 42 year old wrote: "Having been lucky enough to have this summer break to focus on the children, it’s now lovely to be back on the sofa, and there was certainly joy in abundance with Alison Hammond today!
"This wonderful lady has been nominated in the best presenter category at tomorrow night’s NTAs, and there is still time to vote for her. So, if you’ve ever been filled with joy by The Hammond… and let’s be honest, who hasn’t?!… then you know what to do!"
This comes right after Alison herself, 48, recalled being proposed to by a mystery man.
"I didn't get very many proposals in my life but there were two that I did get," she said live on air.
"I won't say who it was because then it would be exposed but, they did it in private in my bedroom. I was in my nightie, I had no makeup on and it was the most beautiful proposal I have ever had in my life."
The National Television Awards kicks off at 8pm on ITV.
