Eamonn Holmes takes brutal swipe at Davina McCall’s new show My Mum, Your Dad
Eamonn Holmes has taken a brutal swipe at Davina McCall’s new ITV show, My Mum, Your Dad.
The show launched on ITV on Monday, 11 September, and it's got plenty of fans already, but outspoken ex-ITV employee Eamonn is apparently not one of them.
Eamonn, who used to have a presenting slot on ITV's flagship daytime show This Morning, didn't hold back on his feelings about its newest offering, as he presented his GB News morning programme.
My Mum, Your Dad sees people in their 20s nominate their parents to go into a specially-designed house in the hopes of finding love.
But, despite the rave reviews on the launch show on Monday night, Eamonn is apparently not a fan.
He made his feelings clear as he was joined by Christopher Biggins and Claire Pearsall for a discussion.
Starting proceedings, Eamonn spoke about how he was 'so embarrassed' when his 48 year old mum got pregnant – when he was 16 years old.
The trio then talked about Your Mum, My Dad, as Christopher said: "Who would do such a thing? What will they think of next?"
Isobel, however, had positive things to say about the show, as she said it was a 'good idea' before referring to Love Island, as she queried: "Why does it only have to be young and beautiful [people]?"
But Eamonn didn't hold back as he gave his opinion, saying: "I mean, ITV are the worst. If it’s not Ant and Dec, or it’s not Simon Cowell, or it’s not Bradley Walsh on The Chase, they’ve got no other ideas!"
Despite Eamonn's negative review of the show, it debuted to rave reviews from viewers, with the music choices especially proving a hit.
The songs in question caught the attention of the new viewers at home, and they flocked to social media to share their love of the choices as one person said: "Started watching #MyMumYourDad and I’m sorry but the SONG CHOICES? Absolute bops."
While another tweeted: "Already prefer the song choices on this show than Love Island #MyMumYourDad."
Someone else commented: "I have to say the person who selected the music for the show has done a brilliant job – every track so far has been banging. No pun intended."
"This show wins just on the music used in the first 15 minutes. It’s a big “yeah we did it better” from the producers #MyMumYourDad" wrote another fan.
