Emmerdale and Corrie face huge schedule shake-up this week
This week's ITV schedule has been given a shake-up as the channel gets set to air coverage of the Rugby World Cup, with Emmerdale and Coronation Street's usual time slots being changed.
New schedules have been released for ITV1, showing that the first week of September has some one-off changes to regular timings with soap lovers having to tune in at different times throughout the week.
Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will air as usual on Monday 4 September, but on Tuesday Emmerdale will air at 7pm with an hour-long episode of the soap.
ITV Evening News will therefore be airing in a shorter 30-minute time slot to make way for the long episode.
Soap fans are in for another treat on Tuesday, as the hour-long episode of Emmerdale will then be followed by this year's National Television Awards at 8pm.
On Wednesday 5 September, ITV's usual schedule will be in place but on Thursday timings will change again, with Coronation Street airing from 9pm until 10pm.
Both Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be off air on Friday 7 September, as ITV will be airing live coverage of the Rugby World Cup 2023 game between France and New Zealand.
Despite the changes, both soaps will still air for the same amount of time as usual, thanks to Emmerdale's hour-long episode and Corrie's Thursday evening slot.
Both soaps have some huge storylines in the pipeline for autumn and winter, and it seems like over the coming weeks things are about to get much more dramatic.
In Weatherfield, the Stephen Reid serial killer storyline is beginning to build up and it seems like it's only a matter of time before he's caught, which will no doubt shock Coronation Street residents.
Meanwhile over in the Yorkshire Dales, the love triangle involving Mackenzie Boyd, Chloe Harris and Charity Dingle is just getting messier.
Tensions and emotions are continuing to rise, and it seems drama is going to continue to build up until an explosive week of episodes in October.
Earlier this year, Emmerdale producer Jane Hudson teased a big storyline for Charity in October, as part of Super Soap Week.
โI think with that story, itโs safe to say the viewers know we do Super Soap Week in October,โ Jane told Inside Soap. โIf there is ever a plot to explode around that time, itโs a love triangle that involves Charity. So, I would watch this space for another couple of months.โ
