Helen Mirren on transformation into Golda Meir

Helen seemed excited to be on the show to talk about the new film, but many viewers had an issue with Lorraine’s interviewing technique.
Taking to their X, formerly known as Twitter, account user @woowoo1981 noted: “This interview with Dame Helen is very cringe! Lorraine is terrible at interviewing #lorraine.”
@karenmbridger expressed: “Think I heard more of Lorraine’s voice throughout that interview with Helen Mirren…. cringe! #lorraine.”
@BeddoesJill penned: “Helen Mirren interviews always feel (to me) a bit awkward. Never feel she’s totally being herself.

“Even her body language, sitting away from Lorraine, was strange. #lorraine.”

Claire Lotus said: “Is it me or does Helen look really uncomfortable with Lorraine? Like she keeps talking over her and being way too loud for Mrs. Mirren!” (sic)
Despite some being annoyed with Lorraine, many noticed how well Helen looked as @kellymcc5 said: “Helen Mirren looks far better than women in their 20s pumping their faces with Botox and lip fillers #lorraine.”
John Noble added: “Does she ever age! This woman is just spectacular at everything she does and is flawless.” (sic)

Whilst Helen is proud of her work and is excited for people to see the film, she has recently faced some backlash over her conflicted feelings on being cast as a Jewish person.
Appearing on the BBC’s political program, Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, she explained: “I think I can see, but sometimes I can’t see because I can’t see who in this room is Jewish.
“I think the whole question of assuming a certain physiognomy because you’re playing a particular race, there is something offensive about that.
“On the other hand, if you’re playing Leonard Bernstein, and this is really what Leonard Bernstein looked like, you know, maybe it’s a good idea. It’s a very delicate balance.”
The Oscar-winning actress pointed out that we are all “the product of the society that we grew up in and the world around us and our education and all the rest of it”.
Lorraine airs weekdays from 9am on ITV1 and ITVX.
