Sara Tavares dead – Portuguese Eurovision star dies aged 45 after battling brain tumour | The Sun
EUROVISION singer Sara Tavares has died aged 45 after a tragic brain tumour battle.
Sara, who famously represented Portugal when the contest was held in Dublin in 1994, passed away in Lisbon on Sunday.
Her tragic death was announced by her devastated family, according to Portuguese reports.
It follows a ten-year hiatus from music to focus on her health.
The musician's song Chamar A Mรบsica came in eighth place in the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest – one of Portugal's best ever results.
Her performance received 12 votes from the Spanish jury and she also got points from 13 out of the 25 participating nations.

She was also known for singing the European-Portuguese version of God Help The Outcasts for Disney's The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, for which she won a Disney award.
The skilled composer, guitarist, and percussionist won a Portuguese Golden Globe for Best Portuguese Singer in 2000.
Born in Lisbon in 1978, Sara's career took off when she won the first edition of Portuguese talent show Chuva De Estrelas with a performance of Whitney Houston's One Moment In Time in 1994.
After her eighth-place finish in Dublin later that same year, she released her debut album Sara Tavares & Shout!.

She went on to release several more albums over the next two decades including Balance in 2005 which earned her a platinum record nomination at the BBC Radio 3 World Music Awards.
Sara was forced to take a step back from music when she was first diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and only returned to the scene in 2018.
