The One Show hosts forced to apologise as Rick Stein swears on live show
The One Show: Gethin apologises after Rick Stein swears
Gethin Jones was forced to apologise to The One Show viewers as chef Rick Stein used a swearword during the live show on Thursday.
BBC hosts Gethin and Alex Scott were left red-faced after the 76-year-old casually let slip a rude word as he was talking about cooking.
When asked how a section of his cookbook about dishes for one was inspired by his wife, he explained: “Part of the reason for that chapter is I think a lot of people do like cooking on their own, really.”
The restaurateur added: “And it’s sort of a mixture, at the beginning of the chapter… I think a lot of the time I’m sort of having supper on my own and I’m probably a bit p***ed because I’ve been out somewhere-“
“We’ll leave that language for later on…” Gethin cut in during the live BBC programme.

He went on: “But yes, carry on – apologies for that.”
“Sorry,” Rick smiled as he continued: “But basically it’s sort of dishes I’d cook that I really, really like but I just want to do for myself because it’s a bit tricky to do it for more people.”
Later he once again talked about drinking while cooking and Gethin gave a gesture of thanks to the chef for avoiding the swearword.
“Thank you, Gethin. I’m so, so sorry about that!” He remarked.
