TV star happy they turned down huge Im A Celeb money deal after Grace Dent exit

Grace Dent's abrupt exit from I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! confirmed David Baddiel's decision not to appear on the show, despite the hefty paycheque he would've received.

The MasterChef star, 50, left the camp on medical grounds earlier in the week, with presenters Ant and Dec announcing the news during Monday night's (November 27) show. In the days before her exit, Grace's appearance sparked concern amongst fans as they claimed she looked pale and withdrawn.

She also admitted to struggling in camp, last week threatening to quit and later telling the camera: "I just want to go home". After taking part in the Touchdown of Terror trial, Grace was nominated by the public to tackle the next challenge with Josie Gibson.

But Grace's time on the show came to an end before she could win anymore meals for camp. Last year, David revealed that ITV had offered him a substantial fee to take part in the gruelling competition, admitting it caused him "pain" to turn down in a post published on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The tweet said: "In the past I’ve been offered I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! but if I were to have a personality transplant and do it and then was asked, like various contestants did to [former health secretary] Matt Hancock last night, why I was doing it, I would say, without a seconds thought, ‘For the money’.”

When asked how much money he'd been offered, the comedian responded: "A fair wedge, I have to say. I mean it caused me a little pain to turn it down, is all I’m saying."

However, Grace's sudden departure from the show "confirmed" he made the right decision by turning down the offer to appear on the show. "I’m confirmed as ever in my decision to say no to I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ he told Metro.co.uk.

He continued: "I’m a friend of Grace Dent. So, her leaving early has confirmed that. Nigel Farage’s bottom has confirmed that. And as ever, the enormous of insects too."

The presenter added: "So yeah. I think I was right to turn it down." After news of Grace's exit emerged, a show spokesperson confirmed: "Unfortunately Grace Dent has left the show on medical grounds. She has been a great campmate and will be missed by her fellow celebrities and viewers alike."
