Barney, a purple anthropomorphic Tyrannosaurus Rex, conveyed educational messages through songs and small dance routines with the help of his human friends.
The show was created by Sheryl Leach in 1992 and was highly acclaimed, bringing a lot of fame to those associated with it.
Barney and Friends ran until 2010 before its broadcasting rights expired on PBS 2016 station, so it was removed from PBS kids line up.
The show had special hit songs such as I Love You, Everyone is Special and The Dino Dance which kids at home would sing and dance along to.
Express.co.uk has looked into where the child stars of the show are now, from pop sensation Selena Gomez to Barney actor’s wildly different day jobs.

Selena Gomez
Selena is most likely the biggest name to come out of Barney after she played the role of Gianna, and stormed the entertainment world with her acting and singing talents.
She signed with Disney and first made her appearance in The Suit Life of Zack and Cody (2006) before having a recurring role in Hannah Montana (2007) as Mikayla.
Selena soon went on to land the role of Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place from 2007 to 2012, with the show having a spin-off movie The Wizards Return: Alex vs. Alex (2013).
The pop star has also voiced the role of Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania movies from 2012 to 2022, before working on some more serious roles such as Only Murders in the Building (2021–present) and executive produced the television series 13 Reasons Why (2017–2020).
Outside of her acting career, Selena has had a successful singing career and has three solo studio albums, two compilation albums, four extended plays (EPs), 35 singles and four promotional singles.
While she may wish she was only known for her acting and singing career, Selena is often linked to Justin Bieber after their rocky relationship.
The pair first began dating in 2010 and were on again and off again until 2018, with Justin going on to marry model Hailey Baldwin.
Selena also dated Canadian singer-songwriter The Weeknd, with the pair moving in together temporarily, but broke up a month later.
The star was diagnosed with lupus sometime between 2012 and early 2014, and she revealed in 2017 that she had withdrawn from public events during the previous few months because she had received a kidney transplant from actress and friend Francia Raisa.

Demi Lovato
Demi also became a pop star and Disney actress after she starred in the kids TV show as Angela from 2002 to 2004, sharing the screen with Selena Gomez.
After Barney, Demi had small roles in shows such as Prison Break, As The Bell Rings and Just Jordan before landing the lead role of Sonny Munroe in Sonny With A Chance from 2009 to 2011.
She also starred as Mitchie Torres in the Disney original film Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam in 2010.
Demi also landed the role of Princess Rosalinda/Rosie Gonzalez in the Princess Protection Program before making a YouTube documentary in 2017 titled Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated.
During the documentary, Demi touched on her eating disorder, and diagnosis of bipolar, describing the use of drugs as a teenager.
The star suffered an alleged drug overdose back in 2018, which she later revealed caused her to have multiple strokes, a heart attack, and brain damage, which caused vision problems.
Demi’s biggest romance was with Camp Rock co-star Joe Jonas in 2010, with the pair being on the cover of Teen Vogue, but just days after they confirmed their split.
Her longest relationship was with Wilmer Valderrama who she met not long after her split with Joe.
She told Cosmopolitan in 2015: “People told him, ‘You should probably leave. She’s on a spiral, and you’re going to be sucked down with it.’
“But he was like, ‘I’m not leaving. This is somebody I really care about’.”
The couple dated on and off for six years until officially ending things in 2016.
Barney actor David Joyner
David Joyne played the role of Barney for 10 years until 2001 and we the children’s best friend on set.
However, he soon had a wild change in his career as he trained as a tantric sex and massage therapist.
During an interview with Trainwreck’d Society he said he had been a student of White Lotus Tantra since he was 19.
“[It’s] all about pulling in God’s Divine Sacred love from the universe through Spirit, Mind, and Body, and sharing it.
“Growing up when I was a kid, my grandmother always told me that I had a gift for healing, and to always nurture that gift.”
Rickey Carter
Between 1989 and 1995, Rickey Carter appeared as Derek in Barney and the Backyard Gang and the first three seasons of Barney & Friends.
He left the show at age 16, though things ahead were far from smooth for the young actor, as he became a grocery store worker for six months.
However, he reportedly resorted to selling drugs soon after and to the streets to sustain himself, and his daughter who he had at 17.
Luckily, Rickey redeemed himself and completed his high school education, studying commerce at Texas A&M University.
Rickey’s troubles were far from over, as he was robbed and shot in 2004, leading to paralysis from the waist down.
He regained his walking ability a year later through sheer determination and hard work and now goes by the name Gifted Tha Go-Gitta,
He has his own apparel line, along with an online TV show titled ‘F.A.B.T. TV.’ as well as spending time with his three beautiful children.
Other Barney stars
Sophia Ali is a Grey’s Anatomy alumni and is now starring as Fatin Jadmani on the Prime Video drama The Wilds. She starred in Barney & Friends from 2005 and 2006.
Jaren Lewison now plays Ben Gross on the Netflix teen comedy-drama Never Have I Ever, and got one of his earliest screen appearances when he played Joshua on Barney in 2008 and 2009.
Jackson Pace played Adam in 2006 and went on to star as Chris Brody on Homeland and the recurring role of Gage on The Walking Dead.
Danielle Vega is better known for starring as Ceci Camayo in the Hulu drama East Los High and was just 9 years old when she started playing Kim on Barney.
