Jonnie Irwin melts hearts with latest family update after decline in his health
Jonnie Irwin has melted hearts with his latest update after revealing he ‘hasn’t been feeling great.’
The A Place in the Sun presenter, 49, revealed last November that he had terminal cancer, with a tumour in his lung spreading to his brain.
Jonnie has since shared the highs and lows of his life and documented his treatment, but his three young sons remain unaware of his disease as he didn’t want to ‘confuse’ them.
In his latest update, Jonnie has admitted to struggling this past week.
He took to Instagram to share a series of adorable snaps, taking his little ones to a monster truck show.
The TV star shares Rex, four, and two-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac with wife Jess.
‘Been pretty unwell this past week but felt better this morning so headed off to watch some Monster trucks,’ he wrote in the caption.
‘Kids loved it, got soaked in the rain, quick change when we got home to go again at a Christening party. Full on Sunday,’ Jonnie added.
The first picture showed one of his sons on his shoulders, while he also included a clip of them watching the trucks in complete awe.
In a third photo, Jonnie posed with an arm around Jess, holding a drink in his other hand.
As the property expert makes the most of his final moments, he certainly has the full support of his fans.
One person commented: ‘So pleased to hear you to felt a bit better today. You’ve had a full on day. I hope you’re chilling well tonight. ❤️❤️❤️’
‘You should be proud of yourself everything you are going through and you still put your family first. Total respect’, said another.
‘I am amazed as to where do you get your strength from! Stay strong and keep making memories 💪 Sending lots and lots of love 💕’, a follower added.
Jonnie has spent lots of quality time with his family over the summer, having taken a staycation to fully unwind and relax.
Following what he described as the ‘best’ getaway, there was an emotional milestone around the corner, as eldest Rex started primary school.
Sharing the most precious snap of Rex looking very smart in his uniform, Jonnie wrote in the caption that he is ‘so proud of him I could burst.’
The Escape to the Country star has publicly shared that he doesn’t know how long he has left to live.
He was previously told by professionals that they weren’t expecting him to see in 2023.
When asked back in July what advice he would give people in his position, he told BBC One’s Morning Live: ‘First of all, embrace it.’
Jonnie then chatted about his experience of receiving palliative care.
‘I implore people to check out the hospice – if you’ve got the choice of using it, then use it,’ he stated.
Doctor and former Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dr Ranj Singh was also on Morning Live, stressing that he believes ‘we need to reframe how people think’ of palliative care.
‘You have a right to a choice of a hospice if you so wish, I would encourage people to at least explore that option,’ Jonnie added.
