BBC Strictly’s Tess Daly snubs Ellie and Vito romance rumours as she likens them to ‘brother and sister’

Since first arriving on our screens in the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing, Coronation Street star Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola have delighted viewers week after week with their sensational performances.

But while their constantly improving dance technique has been the source of much public interest, it’s the couple’s love lives that have really gotten fans talking, with several viewers believing a romance could have blossomed between the pair thanks to their sizzling chemistry.

While neither star have ever publicly revealed if sparks have flown between them, both stars have shared complimentary and affectionate words of support to each other both on air and on social media.

However, despite the abundance of ‘clues’ that eagle-eyed fans are convinced they’ve spotted that hint at a new romance, Strictly host Tess Daly has revealed the pair have a very different dynamic as she compared them to siblings while appearing on It Takes Two.

The surprising bombshell came during Wednesday 6 December’s edition of the show, when Tess was joined by her partner in crime, Claudia Winkleman for a sit down chat with Fleur East about their thoughts on the upcoming final, which is now just two weeks away.

Fleur kicked things off by asking about how close the cast had all become this year, as she asked Tess what it had been like to see them form such close bonds.

“They genuinely are just like a family, aren’t they? Ellie and Vito are like brother and sister, Bobby and Dianne and Annabel and Johannes have got this — they’re going to be best friends forever.

Reeling off each partnership in turn, Tess then delivered a number of tongue in cheek comments, which included a lighthearted tease at Annabel, when she said: ”She’s literally doing his laundry and everything and has invited him to move in.”

The star then also went on to describe Layton and Nikita’s relationship, as “a really special bond” before she admitted that she and Claudia were “like the aunties just looking after everybody.”

Claudia also weighed in on Ellie and Vito’s connection as she told Fleur that: “I think with Ellie it’s her confidence. That’s sort of magic to watch. Do you remember when we first came?”

Tess then chimed in, as she added: ”I don’t think she knows how good she is, still.”

Claudia agreed, “But she’s much more confident now, he’s done that for her.”

Hinting at what fans can expect this weekend as the pair take on the challenge of a couple’s choice dance, Claudia then added: “I think it’s going to be tremendous. His attention to detail, their relationship, her musicality. They’re going to fly.”
