Sir Tom Jones addresses future as he details being The Voice coach for so long

Sir Tom Jones has revealed what makes his coaching job on The Voice UK special.

Last weekend, the 83-year-old returned for his seventh consecutive and eleventh overall season at the helm of the talent show.

After joining the panel in 2012, Sir Tom took a year hiatus in 2016 before returning to the ITV show in 2017.

Ahead of the new season, which sees him judging with the likes of will.i.am, singer Anne-Marie and Olly Murs, the ‘Sexbomb’ star discussed what he loves about being on the show.

After being asked what he enjoys the most about coaching, he said: “Listening to new voices and hearing what’s out there.”

“So, this is a perfect thing for me as I’ve always loved listening to singers.”

Following the return of The Voice UK, Sir Tom’s health has been brought into question by fans.

Many took to X, formerly known as Twitter following Sir Tom and his fellow judges’ performance on the opening show.

One X user asked: “What is that new spot on Tom’s face? Hope it’s ok…#TheVoice.”

Another said: “I hope Sir Tom has had that brown mark on his face checked out #Thevoice.” (sic)

Ahead of The Voice UK season 12 premiering on ITV earlier this month Anne-Marie – full name Anne-Marie Rose Nicholson – praised the legend on his singing ability.

The 32-year-old said: “Tom always has funny stories to tell and Will just makes me laugh all the time.

“Amazing moments are like when Tom sings, when he sings, I’m just in awe, his voice is just mad.”

The Psycho singer, who replaced Meghan Trainor on the show ahead of series ten, added: “Whenever anyone sings, I mean what more could you ask for? I always say it’s like a real-life TikTok because you are scrolling through people singing,”
