ITV bosses have eyed up Rochelle and Marvin Humes as the “next Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan” on This Morning, according to sources.
TV bosses have been on the hunt for two hosts to take over Holly and Phil on the beloved daytime show for months now, following the dynamic duo’s sudden exits. Loyal fans of the show will remember Phil was forced to step down from the role back in May after his affair with an employee came to light.
Holly Willoughby stepped back last month after 14 years on the show after a man was charged with an alleged plot to kidnap and murder the presenter. She wrote: “I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.

“To everyone who had ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This is such a difficult goodbye, you are incredible and I forever will be proud of what we’ve done together.”
Now, ITV bosses expect the Saturdays singer, who hosts the show The Hit List with her husband Marvin to step into the new role with the JLS star. Speaking to Closer, the source alleged that this is something the pair have “always wanted to do.”
They went on: “Rochelle has made it clear with producers that she won’t be a substitute forever, insisting she and Marvin have what it takes to revive the show and get it back to what it was in the golden days.”
The insider claimed that Rochell is confident to “believe she and Marvin have the edge” over other presenters. They continued: ”Rochelle knows they’re up against some amazing talent but believes she and Marvin have the edge.
“Telling execs how they not only have their own fanbases from their pop star days, but have already proven to be popular with viewers. Rochelle has been quietly gathering support behind the scenes.
“She is hoping they get the deal they’ve been secretly wanted for so long – and be given the chance to put the spark back into the show.” Rochelle is already a key part of the This Morning family and regularly co-hosts the show over the festive period.
It comes after Rochelle opened up about how “lost” she felt after S Club Juniors came to an end. Speaking on Grace Beverley’s podcast, Working Hard, Hardly Working, she shared the lengths she went to to get her career back on track.

She explained: “When S Club Juniors finished it was like, ‘What am I going to do now?’ because you hear about these child stars, performers who have led a really weird life. So I would be handling leaflets outside of Tesco and feeling really embarrassed, because it wasn’t glamorous.
“Now I'm being that person who’s handling out leaflets and no-one wants to take one. And we were earning good money; we were helping out parents and then it all ended and so does the money.”
